Eagles Take Care of Holy Names, 3-0

FRESNO, Calif. - The Biola volleyball team made it 3-for-3 in 2006 with a 30-14, 30-14, 30-22 sweep over Holy Names in its first game of the day at the Fresno Pacific Sunbird Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Kelsey Mitchell continued her hot play, recording 11 kills for the third straight match to help the Eagles move to 3-0 on the season. The Cougars dropped to 0-3.

Junior Brittany Wing also recorded 11 kills and added seven digs to lead the Biola attack. Freshman setter Abbie Wright picked up 36 assists, five kills, three aces and three digs.

The Eagles played well on defense, holding Holy Names to a .000 hitting percentage, surrendering just 19 kills in the three games.

Biola closes out the tournament tonight with an intruiging match-up with No. 12 Savannah College of Art and Design at 5:00 p.m.
