FRESNO, Calif. - The Biola University volleyball team opened the new season with a 30-27, 30-19, 30-22 sweep over Lubbock Christian in the first game of the Fresno Pacific Sunbird Invitational Friday morning.

Sophomore Meghan Scheenstra looked dominant in her first match as an Eagle, recording 19 kills in 28 attempts to lead the attack.

Fellow sophomore Kelsey Mitchell added 11 kills while freshman Abbie Wright recorded 43 assists and four kills.

Biola libero Dani Aigaki had 18 digs.

The Eagles return to the court at 5:00 p.m. this evening for a match with Holy Names University.
