SALT LAKE CITY – The Biola University men's soccer team opened its 2006 campaign with a 3-0 victory over Dana College on Thursday at the Westminster College Tournament in Salt Lake City.

Senior midfielder Cody Moore recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Eagles (1-0) offense while fellow senior goalkeeper Ryan George earned his first shutout of the season.

Junior midfielder Colin Kilpatrick opened the scoring early in the first half with help from Moore. Later in the half, Freshman Derek Friehe picked up his first collegiate goal to extend the Biola lead to a pair at halftime.

Moore capped the scoring with a rocket midway through the final period.

Sloppy play cost the Vikings (0-1) a pair of players as Dana saw two red cards issued to its side during the final 45 minutes.

Additional stats were not available from tournament host Westminster College.

Biola continues play at the season-opening tournament, taking on University of Mary (North Dakota) in a 3:00 p.m. (PST) contest on Friday, Aug. 25.
