Kesterson Smashes Her Way Into the Record Book

After being named the GSAC softball player of the week the past two weeks, Amerra Kesterson once again proved she is well deserving of the awards. Kesterson went 4-7 in the double header against Hope International ( 8-30, 2-19 GSAC) on Tuesday to help lead the Eagles (30-11, 12-10 GSAC) to the easy sweep.

Included in her 4-7 performance, were her school record tying and setting, 7th and 8th homeruns of the season to go along with her three RBI and five runs scored.

In game one, Katie Gustaveson got the start and went the complete seven innings, allowing just two unearned runs on four hits while striking out six to improve to 14-5 on the year.

Kesterson went 2-3 in the game, while Amanda Rudolph went 3-4 with two runs scored and Jacquelin Hudson went 3-5 with two doubles and two runs scored.

In game two, Emily Gray started and went four innings and gave up no runs on just three hits while striking out seven in just four innings to pick up her ninth win of the year. Tatiana Garcia came in and pitched a hitless fifth inning to close out the game due to the mercy rule.

Kesterson went 2-4 in game two with an RBI and three runs scored, while Jacquelin Hudson went 3-3 with two runs scored of her own.

The Eagles will close out their regular season against the nation's best team, California Baptist, on Saturday in a double header beginning at 12:00pm.
