The Biola University Women's Basketball team announced the signing of highly recruited San Diego basketball prep star, Elise Paty, last week.
The 5-8 guard from San Diego High School averaged 17 points and three rebounds per game and shot 44% from three-point range during her senior year.
"Elise is one of the premier scorers in the state of California...we are excited about adding her skills and leadership to our team. She is another outstanding member of this strong recruiting class." Said Biola Women's Head coach, Ken Crawford.
Paty holds the San Diego County basketball record for most 3-point field goals made in a season and career. She has received numerous awards for her accomplishments both on the court and in the classroom. Those awards include; San Diego Tribune Player of the Month for January 2005 and January 2006, second team all-CIF, first team All-League, International Baccalaureate Program, CIF All-Scholastic Team in 2005 and 2006.
Paty said she was attracted to Biola because of the people and she really felt good about the coaches. In addition, she enjoyed her recruiting visit to the Biola's campus.
“I'm looking forward to being a part of the team…I like the fact that I will get a chance to play close to home,” Paty said. “I'm also excited about continuing my spiritual growth… and I think Biola is going to provide academic, athletic and spiritual challenges for me.”
Her family was just as pleased with her decision. “The decision for college was left up to Elise. We are excited about her choice and think that it is a very wise decision,” said her parents, William and Christy Paty.
Paty is the second highly coveted recruit to sign to what looks like, a skilled and promising Biola freshman class in 2006-2007.
