WALLA WALLA, Wash. --- Kyle Born hit a jumper with seven seconds remaining to give Whitman College a 71-69 come-from-behind victory over Biola University in a non-conference contest Saturday night in Walla Walla.

Born's jumper gave him a game-high 27 points and gave the Missionaries their first win of the season as they improve to 1-6. In addition, Chris Faidley led a three-point barrage for Whitman by scoring 26 points on 6-for-11 shooting from beyond the arc.

Biola, which dropped its second-straight game and fell to 6-4 on the season, received 21 points from senior Matt Emadi.

The Missionaries rallied back from a late deficit to earn the win. The Eagles took a seven-point lead at 67-60 with 3:58 remaining in the game as Marlon King hit two of his 13 points. But Whitman went on a 9-0 run to take a two-point lead with 1:04 remaining.

Emadi then tied the score with a basket with 44 seconds on the clock only to see Whitman retake the lead on the Born jumper with seven ticks remaining.

Biola regained its shooting touch in the game, shooting 57 percent from the field. However, the Missionaries were able to keep up thanks to 11 three-pointers and 14 offensive rebounds.

The Eagles now take two weeks off for Christmas before returning to action at the Grand Canyon Cactus Classic in Phoenix, Ariz., Dec. 28-30.
