EL CAJON, Calif. --- Despite an early goal, the No. 21-ranked Biola women's soccer team was upset by unranked San Diego Christian 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon in El Cajon.
The Eagles (4-3-2 overall, 0-2-1 GSAC) got on the board in the 13th minute off the foot of Jordan Bishop, who chipped a shot just under the cross bar. For Bishop, it was her third tally of the season, and came off a great assist by midfielder Amanda Patrick.
San Diego Christian, however, came right back with a goal of its own just four minutes later as Tarayna Babauta one-touched a shot into the net to tie the match.
Later in the first half, Shannon Gibson gave SDCC the lead with a blast to the far post in the 36th minute.
San Diego capped the scoring five minutes later with a goal by Mary Willis.
It was the first time San Diego Christian College defeated Biola in a women's soccer match and keeps the Eagles without a win in conference play.
Biola will look to rebound from the loss as it hosts The Master's College on Saturday (Oct. 8) at 7:00 p.m.
