FRESNO, Calif. --- The Biola women placed sixth overall while the men took eighth at the Golden State Athletic Conference cross country championships at Woodward Park in Fresno on Saturday.

Biola scored 137 points on the women's side and just edged out Fresno Pacific's 142 for sixth place. Concordia took top honors with 32 points followed by Point Loma Nazarene with 71 points and Vanguard with 82.

Anna Thibodo was the Eagles top finisher in the women's 5K race, coming in 18th overall in a time of 19:21. Kristin Schmidt finished close behind in 23rd at 19:42.

Brittany Gomes placed 27th in a time of 19:58 while Amanda Stephens took 34th at 20:33.

Rounding out the women's contingent were Danielle Simpson in 50th (21:27), Sara Bair in 55th (22:03) and Hillary Tayet in 60th (22:23).

Vanguard's Grace Jepngetich took top honors with a 17:30.

On the men's side, the Eagles scored 230 points and finished eighth overall. Concordia completed the sweep by winning the men's title with 33 points followed by Westmont with 70 and Azusa Pacific with 82. Klye McNulty was Biola's third finisher in 61st place (30:16) followed by Mike Morin in 63rd (30:32) and Robert Stevenson in 72nd (45:44).

Biola will rest up a bit before returning to action on Saturday, Nov. 4 for the NAIA Region II Cross Country Championships. The racers will return again to Fresno for a chance to advance to the NAIA Championships on Nov. 18.
