FRESNO, Calif. --- Despite a late goal and another couple of chances in the final minute, Biola lost 3-2 at Fresno Pacific University on Thursday night.
The Eagles, who fall to 5-6-3 overall and 1-5-2 in GSAC, came out firing after being dominated in the first period.
Fresno Pacific (6-6-2, 3-4-0 GSAC) opened the scoring in the 15th minute as Amy Kampf stole a pass from a Biola defender and scored.
Despite being outshot by a 13-4 margin in the first half, the Eagles held their ground and went to the half down by just one.
In the second, Fresno picked up their second goal in a hurry, scoring in the 49th minute as Samantha Hearns sent home a great chance in front.
Biola came right back down and pulled back to within one goal as junior defender Brandi Johannsen banged a free kick off the post and in just 37 second later.
But Fresno would get the goal back in the 60th minute as Kampf again found the back of the net and a great feed from Ashley Sherr.
Biola refused to back down, though, and continued to pressure the Sunbirds and scored again in the 84th minute as Michelle Harvey recorded her second goal of the season with a chip over the keeper.
The Eagles continued to mount pressure and nearly had a replay of their last second goal as they earned a corner kick with 23 seconds remaining. However, this time they were unable to get the shot off.
Biola returns to the field on Tuesday (Oct. 24) as the Eagles host Point Loma Nazarene in their final home match of the season at 7:00 p.m.
