During her 45-year tenure at Biola, Coach Dee Henry's teams produced a national singles champion, a national champion doubles team and a national runner-up team.
In addition to her work as Biola's women's tennis coach, Henry has continually been recognized for her work with the community. She earned the Southern California Tennis Association Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 for her life-long contributions to the sport of tennis in Southern California. In 2014 she was honored by the USPTA with the Pete Brown Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing her 20-plus years of service to the local community. Â
In the spring of 2016 the International Tennis Hall of Fame honored Henry for her efforts to advance the sport of tennis. She was presented with the ITHF's Tennis Educational Merit Award for outstanding service to tennis. The award was initiated in 1972 and is awarded to one male and one female each year.

Biola tennis' USPTA teaching pro, Henry received certification for teaching wheelchair tennis in 2008. In addition to working with challenged athletes, she has provided the direction for a summer program for the youth of our community for more than two decades. These and other programs contributed to Biola’s selection as the 2009 Southern California Tennis Association Organizational Member of the Year.
Henry is on the Board of Directors for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and is an active member in the USTA. She was honored by the Southern California Section of the USTA with service awards in 1987, 1993, 1996, and 2001 in recognition of outstanding service with adults and juniors. Henry's 1990 women's team was a Recipient of the Volvo Tennis Community Service award and in 1993, Biola was selected as the USTA/NJTL Section Chapter of the Year for SCTA.
Henry was honored by the California Division of USPTA as their 1997 Coach of the Year and as Handicap Pro of the Year in 2001 and the 2008 Special Needs Coach of the Year. Henry, with the assistance of the team, participates in a wide range of special community service events. As a result of these contributions she received the 1999 USTA Collegiate Community Service award by the ITA. In 2003, Henry was the recipient of the Sectional USTA/ITA Campus Recreation Award.
Henry was the 2005 National Winner of the USTA/ITA Campus Recreation Award and was one of six recipients of the 2006 USTA Eve Kraft Community Service Award. Recently, she has earned a the 2010 United States Olympic Volunteer Tennis Coach Award and the 2011 Southern California Division Facility Manager of the Year.Â
Henry has also received a pair of service awards in the last few years, receiving Biola's Ruby Slipper Ester Award for Servanthood in 2010 and the 2011 Apple of our Eye Community/Civic Service Awards from the Dayle McIntosh Center.
She guided Biola's women's tennis programs since the early 1970s and coached two NAIA All-Americans, including Kathryn Ashford in 2014. She also led 28Â young women to GSAC Scholar-Athlete recognition.
