A phenomenal performance at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Volleyball National Championship made Chelsee Arnitz a clear choice as this week's Biola Athlete of the week.
The senior middle blocker played well all tournament long, earning her National Championship All-Tournament Team recognition along with Amy Weststeyn, but she was especially integral in Biola's huge three-set sweep over GSAC rival Concordia.
Arnitz dominated the second and third set of the national semifinal match, and accumulated a total of 14 kills, to tie CUI's Maddy Ekis for the game-high. Her signature "slide to Arnitz" attack worked nearly every time late in that match as she hit .542 to secure Biola's first berth in a national championship match since 1997.
The senior had a fantastic week, gathering 69 kills over the Eagles' six matches, hitting over .500 in four of them. She was just as great on defense, picking up 8.5 total blocks, including three solo blocks.Â
The fantastic performance at the national tournament helped Arnitz end her final season as an Eagle with 267 total kills. It is the highest kill output of her three seasons at BU, although each year has been fantastic as she's averaged 251 kills per season.
Last week was a fitting way to end and fantastic career on the court for the black and red.
