Biola softball continued its stellar start by picking up three wins on the week. Its pitching staff had a big part in the success, but especially impressive was the performance of Reba DePriest.
She got the ball in three of the four games Biola played on the week, and she logged 14.2 innings pitched overall. Over the course of those innings she held opponents to just four hits, while picking up 16 strikeouts.
DePriest allowed only one run this week. It was the first, and only, earned run she has allowed over the course of her team-high 43 innings. She has 63 total strikeouts on the season, second-best in the entire National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Her most impressive performance over the course of her three outings was her win in game two of Biola's doubleheader No. 8 CSU San Marcos.
She went 5.2 innings in that game, giving up one hit and striking out nine Cougars. Her dominance was especially noteworthy when considering the lineup she went up against had a .363 batting average entering the day.
DePriest has led the Eagles to a 10-3 start on the season, and they return to action this Tuesday with a doubleheader against Antelope Valley.
