Biola went just 1-2 on the week, but its one win was a huge one. They got a 5-4 upset over No. 13 Concordia on Saturday afternoon, and this week's athlete of the week, Kathryn Ashford, played a huge role in that.
Ashford went 2-0 in the match against Concordia, including her 11th win at No. 1 singles this season and her fifth straight win at doubles with Susan Carmichael.
On the week, Ashford was 4-2, with her losses both coming in very close matches in singles competition, with one going to three sets before she got put down.
Ashford and Carmichael have been on point all season long, and they improved to 11-4 on the season after their 3-0 week at the No. 2 spot for Head Coach Dee Henry.
Ashford improved to 11-5 at the No. 1 singles spot with her big victory over Concordia's Mona Piller. She handled Piller in two consecutive decisive sets (6-2, 6-1).
Ashford and the Eagles conclude their Golden State Athletic Conference regular season this week with road matches at Vanguard and Westmont.
