After a rough first two years, Crawford led Biola to its first playoff appearance in four years, qualifying for the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament with an eighth-place finish in the league.

In 2008-09, Biola roared back into the national picture as Crawford led the Eagles to an impressive 20-12 overall record—its first 20-win season in five years—and an NAIA Tournament appearance. At the NAIA Championships, the Eagles won their first-ever national-tournament game, beating Trevecca Nazarene TN, 63-57. The run would end in the second round as Biola lost 96-75 to Lee University TN.

In 2009-10, Crawford again led the Eagles to a 20-win season, the first time Biola had back-to-back 20-win seasons in 20 years. The Eagles finished 20-12 overall and a return trip to the NAIA National Tournament. Biola finished the season ranked No. 21 in the NAIA and placed fourth in the tough Golden State Athletic Conference with a record of 14-6. The Eagles hosted a first-round GSAC playoff game for the first time in six seasons, soundly defeating The Master's College before falling to No. 1-seed Vanguard University in the semifinals.

The return trip to the National Tournament by Crawford's squad ended in the first round with a 64-49 loss to Lewis-Clark State University ID.

In 2010-11, Biola made its third-straight trip to the NAIA Tournament after posting one of the best regular-seasons in program history. The Eagles finished the regular season with a 25-5 record and placed second in the GSAC with a record of 16-4, also its best mark in program history. The Eagles' third-straight 20-win seasons were the first in 30 years and its three-year record of 65-31 was the second-best three-year stretch in history. Biola's run in the NAIA tournament ended with a first-round upset to William Woods University MO.

Prior to coming to Biola, Crawford spent time as the head boys basketball coach at Bellingham High school in Bellingham, Washington. He has also acted as a high school administrator in the Bellingham School District and worked at Whatcom Community College, also in Bellingham.
