Biola slowly tacks on run after run to clinch 13-11 win.

February 22, 2026

Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. —- Biola Baseball secured d a series victory in a very rare Sunday matinee at Eagles Diamond, outlasting visiting Menlo in a 13-11 slugfest.

Head Coach Jesse Rodgers' team scored in each of their first six offensive innings to build a healthy 13-6 lead in support of starter Gabe Magallan.

Magellan went 5.2 innings and managed goose eggs in innings 2, 4 and 5. He went long enough to allow the Eagles to use just four total pitchers in the ballgame.

Closer Dylan Alanis picked up a save as some late Menlo scoring made the game close in the eighth and ninth. Alanis was locked in, facing the minimum in his 1.1 innings to secure the win for BU. It's his second save of the year.

Biola had to battle from behind for just a bit at the beginning of the ballgame as Menlo managed two runs in the first and one in the third. The consistency of the Biola bats allowed them to take the lead in the third after scoring once in the first and second and a pair in the third.

A two-run homer from Josh McAninch is what allowed the Eagles to move into the lead. McAninch had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI in this one. He was one of a handful of Eagles to have six at-bats as the team managed 15 hits. It's the eighth time this year this lineup has had 10+ hits in a game, and the fourth consecutive such performance.

It was a lot of station-to-station work that helped Biola pile on the runs in small increments throughout this first game. McAninch's blast and a two-run single from Oscar Knapp were the only instances where more than one run scored on a play for BU.

Cole Thomson and Kyle Rogers led the hit parade for the Eagles as both had three hits each. Rogers added three RBI and a runs scored as a big piece of the offense on Sunday.

Luke Caruso and James Whitman single-handedly combined for nearly half of the Biola scoring on Sunday, each touching third base three times on the afternoon.

The win moves Biola out to 8-7 overall and 4-3 in PacWest play. The team goes for a four-game home sweep in the second half of Sunday's doubleheader.
