Biola completes a 4-game sweep of Menlo, averaging 12+ runs-per-game.

February 22, 2026

Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. — Biola Baseball closed out a series sweep on Sunday afternoon with another offensive onslaught against the visiting Menlo Oaks. The Eagles created 13 runs on 15 hits, which coincidentally matched their output in game one.

An explosion of offense led Biola to its first four-game series sweep since it took four from the Academy of Art Urban Knights in March 2023.

Biola averaged 12.25 runs-per-game in the four-game sweep of the Oaks, just about double their season average of six-per-game. In the finale, the pitching was on point throughout the seven innings, allowing just six hits and three runs to the Oaks batters.

The tone was set by starting pitcher Jacob Talbott, who went five innings and recorded zeros in three of those five frames. Overall, he allowed five hits and two runs with only one of them earned in his best outing so far in 2026.

Biola's batters left the yard three times in this 13-3 victory, highlighted by a grand slam from Jonny Tewinkle in the second inning. When Tewinkle's ball left the yard it made the game 5-0 in favor of the home team. It was Tewinkle's second big fly of this 2026 season.

Luke Caruso (1) and Oscar Knapp (1) also left the yard in this one. Those two and Tewinkle combined for nine RBI and six runs, equating to a bulk of the Biola offense.

Biola had a firm grip on this game after plating seven runs in their portion of the third inning to make it 12-1 under the shining sun at Eagles Diamond. Menlo had to make two different pitching changes in that inning as Biola's batters piled on. Knapp had two different run-producing hits in the inning, starting off with the two-run blast and then knocking in another with a single later on.

Tewinkle went 4-for-4 in the contest while five different Eagles hitters had more than one hit.

The win pushes Biola to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in PacWest Conference play. The team has now won eight of its 10 ballgames at Eagles Diamond this season. Up next for Biola is a home-and-home 4-game set with the No. 24 and reigning PacWest Champion Westmont Warriors (9-2, 6-2 PacWest). That series begins on Friday with two critical games at Eagles Diamond. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
