LA MIRADA---The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District List for Men's and Women's At-Large sports was announced on Tuesday. Biola Athletics had 11 At-Large athletes recognized as Academic All-District between the women's golf, women's water polo, and men's water polo teams.
To be eligible for the CSC's Academic All-District honor, athletes must be at least a sophomore athletically and academically and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50. For women's golf, athletes additionally must have competed in 70 percent of the team's total events that were team scoring events or have been in the lineup at their conference championship. For water polo players, athletes must have additionally competed in 90 percent of the team's total games played or have started 66 percent of the team's total games.
Rachel Shaw, Karis Haltom and Theresa Shaw represented Biola women's golf. Rachel Shaw was named to the CSC's Academic All-District team for the third time in her career. Rachel Shaw, a 2025 Third Team All-PacWest selection, led her team with a 3.93 GPA in her bachelor's of business administration. Haltom, the PacWest Conference Individual Champion, ended her sophomore year with a 3.87 GPA in her business administration bachelor's degree. Theresa Shaw, a First Team All-PacWest pick, was the women's golf team's final selection who ended her sophomore campaign with a 3.78 GPA in her bachelor's of business administration.
Biola women's water polo was represented by Lizzy Birch, Mia Mulhall and Ava LoBue. Birch, an All-WWPA Honorable Mention, led the trio with a 3.98 GPA in her bachelor's of kinesiology. Mulhall finished her junior year with a 3.90 GPA in her bachelor's of liberal studies, elementary education. LoBue, a Second team All-WWPA selection, ended her senior year with a 3.67 GPA in occupational therapy.
Jake Burns, Nolan Rapp, Mitchell Carpenter, Will Tibbetts and Matthew Rodriguez were the Biola men's water polo team's selections. Burns led the group with his 3.9 GPA in bachelor's of business administration.
Rapp graduated with a 3.82 GPA in his bachelor's of public health. Rapp adds Academic All-District to a long list of honors for the 2024 season including ACWPC All-American, All-WWPA Second Team, WWPA All-Defensive Team and the Biola Athletics' Dave Holmquist Career Achievement award.
Carpenter also finished up an incredible career at Biola, graduating with his 3.61 GPA in his bachelor's of mathematics. Carpenter also adds his Academic All-District honor to a long list of achievements for the 2024 season including ACWPC All-American, All-WWPA First Team and WWPA All-Defensive Team.
Rodriguez and Tibbetts were the Eagles' final selections. Rodriguez graduated with a 3.52 GPA in his bachelor's of public health and Tibbetts graduated with a 3.53 GPA in accounting.
