Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Biola Women's Soccer completes its ninth draw of the 2025 season.

COSTA MESA, Calif. — The Biola Women's Soccer team showed grit and resilience on Saturday morning, earning a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Vanguard at VU Soccer Field.

It was a well-earned clean sheet as Biola had to play down two players for upwards of 22 minutes. The shutout effort was salvaged by a standout performance from goalkeeper Autum Monty and a defensive unit that weathered consistent pressure.

Monty was exceptional between the posts, recording five second-half saves to secure her third shutout of the year. It was Biola's second 0-0 tie and ninth overall draw this season.

Monty's poise and a resilient and reshaped Biola back line managed to turn away all 13 Vanguard shot attempts — including several dangerous looks in the closing minutes.

While defense defined the day, Biola's attack generated moments of threat early and late.

Peyton Nelson led the team with three shots, all on target, forcing multiple saves from Vanguard keeper Josselyne Navarrete.

Briley Phelps added two attempts, including a driven effort from distance in the first half, while Adrielle Salvador put another shot on frame midway through the second. Despite the pressure, the Eagles couldn't find the breakthrough goal but matched the Lions in shots on target (five apiece). JoJo Prisock was shown a red card in the 57th minute and Briley Phelps earned a second yellow to be shown the door in the 69th minute.

The match carried plenty of intensity throughout the second half, with physical play and multiple cautions issued on both sides. Biola stayed composed defensively—blocking crosses, clearing through balls, and closing down shooting lanes to keep the Lions from capitalizing.

The result moves Biola to 3-4-9 overall and 0-3-6 in PacWest play, while Vanguard shifts to 5-7-2 (3-4-1 PacWest).

The Eagles close out their 2025 campaign next week, looking to build on another strong defensive outing and turn their hard-earned draws into a three-point performance on senior day.
