Box Score FRESNO, Calif. --- The final installment of the Biola (17-20-1) and Fresno Pacific (16-14) non-conference series was a doozy on Tuesday afternoon. The two teams traded blows throughout game two on Tuesday until the Eagles made the final move in a 11-9 victory. Gabe Magallan kept the ship steady on the mound with a stellar relief effort in the win.

Offense was the name of the game beginning in the second inning. BU and FPU combined for 13 runs between the second and third frames.

Gavin Ayers opened the scoring for BU with an RBI double in the second, as the Eagles piled on three hits and three runs with two outs on the board. Three-straight walks opened the third inning, opening the door for a huge two-RBI double from Taylor Justus. A sacrifice fly brought in the third run, giving the Eagles six runs at the end of the third frame.

The Sunbirds continued to find success at the plate though, and built a 9-6 advantage through four innings.

Biola battled back with a strong rally in the fifth. AJ Ortiz led off with a double and moved to third with a Luke Caruso single. Austin Carrillo singled to bring home the first run with no outs on the board. Wyatt Duncan nabbed the next RBI, bringing the Eagles within one at 9-8.

Gabe Magallan put up a huge zero in the bottom of the fifth to keep the door wide open for BU.

In the sixth, the Eagles took advantage and notched back-to-back singles to start things off. Ortiz looked to move the runners over with a sacrifice bunt but all three Eagles were safe for a jammed base path and no outs. Caruso tied the game with a sacrifice fly, scoring Taylor Justus and advancing both runners.

Noah Ruiz recorded the go-ahead RBI with another sacrifice fly. The deep out scored Jonathan Smith and BU held a 10-9 lead. Biola added an insurance run in the top of the seventh with a walk from James Whitman and a single from Justus, giving BU a two-run cushion.

It was the job of Magallan to keep the lead and he delivered. Despite facing a bases loaded situation in the seventh and final frame, the righty reliever earned a strikeout and a groundout to seal the 11-9 win.

The sophomore picked up his first win of the season behind a stout performance. Magallan logged 3.2 innings on the rubber, giving up three hits and zero runs. Four strikeouts highlighted the outing.

Justus stayed hot at the plate with his sixth-straight game with a hit. The catcher went 3-4 with three runs batted in. Over the last week, the senior has posted a .550 batting average with nine RBI, four doubles, and three home runs.

Eight Eagles scored a run in game two with Whitman leading the way with three. Whitman was great at reaching base with three walks and one base hit.

Biola will have 10 days off before it returns to the diamond, facing Fresno Pacific once again but at home on April 12 beginning at 12:00 pm.
