Energized Eagles Take Down Sharks

The softball team brought the energy in game one, taking down Hawaii Pacific 8-2 at Freedom Field.

LA MIRADA---The Biola softball team brought the energy in game one, taking down Hawaii Pacific 8-2 at Freedom Field.

Biola scored runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings. 

The Eagles had a big fourth inning, scoring four runs off of five hits and three Shark errors. 

Biola's first two batters got on by HPU errors. Medley came up third and singled to give BU bases loaded. One out passed which brought up Raylene Roybal. Roybal singled through the middle to score the Eagles' first two runs (2-0).

Brie Nowak and Mikala Huskey then contributed back-to-back singles to score Biola's final runs of the inning (4-0).

The Eagles weren't done yet and continued to score three more runs in the fourth inning. BU's first three batters got on base. Maddie Riley and Kennadie Tsue led off with back-to-back singles and Medley got on base off a fielder's choice that scored Riley (5-0).

Abie Nowak then had a perfect piece of situational hitting, sending a fly ball to the outfield that scored Biola's second run (6-0). 

Raylene Roybal smacked a single to left field to score BU's seventh run (7-0). 

Hawaii Pacific managed to make their way onto the scoreboard in the fifth inning where they pushed across two runs (6-2).

Biola scored one more insurance run before all was said and done. Roybal homered to put the Eagles' up 7-2.

Kayla Bousquette and DJ Symons were the Eagles' winning pitching staff in the first game. Bousquette threw 4.2 innings of work where the Sharks had seven hits and scored two runs. Symons relived in the fifth inning and closed out the game strong. Symons only allowed HPU only two hits and held them scoreless.
