MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- The quest for a championship continued on Thursday as Biola Aquatics added four event wins and 10 podium finishes for a solid day two performance. The BU women moved into first place on Thursday with 569 points, while the men held onto second at 325.5 points.

"It's always a roller coaster ride with the ups and downs getting through Thursday's conference events," said Head Coach Nate Harding. "Both men's and women's teams stepped up BIG for tonight's finals swims!"

BU ended day two six points ahead of Azusa Pacific on the women's side. Diving showed out through the first two days with strong results.

In the 1M dive, Biola struck gold, silver, and bronze in a clean sweep. Lorelai Carney led the way for the event crown at 250.20 in the eight-dive event. She corralled 32 points and was followed by Abby DePina in second place at 244.36. Eliana Cote completed the Biola-filled podium in third place with a score of 217.65.

On the 3M board, Carney was the champion with a score of 253.85. The top two spots belonged to the Eagles, as Depina grabbed silver once again at 227.30.

While ending the day in second place, the BU men hung around at just five points behind the leader, UC Santa Cruz.

The BU diving squad of Caleb Pook and Sebastian Burgos gathered plenty of points between Wednesday and Thursday. Pook earned an individual championship in the 3M dive at 254.15 and added a silver medal in the 1M dive at 227.25. Burgos claimed fourth place in both events for the Eagles.

Thursday saw a pair of school records, starting with Alejandro Marchesini in the 500 free. The sophomore powered through for a 4:32.15 school record time in the event, while finishing in second place. The mark was just .15 seconds away from first place. Noah Hall added a fourth place finish for the Eagles in the 500 free.

Jacob Haaksma added to the record books as well with his performance in the 200 individual medley. A time of 1:51.42 beat the field for the PCSC individual championship in the event. Sean Rho notched fourth place finish in the 200 IM with a mark of 1:52.24.

Allison Yancey reached the podium in the 200 IM for the BU women's squad. Yancey touched at 2:06.06 and was followed by a group of Eagles. Four Eagles finished in the top 10 in the event as Morgan Kampfer grabbed fifth, Rachel Munch took seventh, and Colette Friedley nabbed ninth.

The 50 free brought points on both sides behind efforts from Phoebe Munholland in fourth place and Katie Ottman in 11th for the women and Caleb Hernandez in eighth and Nathan Griffin in 12th for the men.

The BU women scored a bronze medal in the 200 free relay, as the team posted a time of 1:35.93.

Biola will be right back at the East LA College Swim Stadium on Friday for preliminary races beginning at 9:30 am.
