December 17, 2024

LA MIRADA --- Biola Volleyball added accolades on Tuesday, displaying their prowess as students and athletes. College Sports Communicators announced its 2024 Academic All-District Volleyball teams, featuring Biola's Kendall Vandertuig, Hannah Hanson, Bri Bellfi, and Payton Tully.

The 2024 Academic All-District Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Vandertuig thrived around the court for BU, rating in the top four on the team for kills and digs. She tallied 227 kills on the year and finished the season with four-straight double-digit kill showings. Off the court, Vandertuig continued her strength in academics, boasting a 3.62 grade-point average in her senior year, majoring in psychology.

Hanson posted a perfect 4.0 GPA through her first three semesters, while majoring in accounting. The well-rounded athlete offered an impressive year on the field of play, setting and attacking for the Eagles. Hanson played in all 28 matches in 2024 and compiled 429 assists, 104 kills, 196 digs, and 33 aces.

Bellfi secured the academic award with a 3.70 GPA with a major in biological science and 27 matches played from the libero position. The junior delivered in the back row with a career-best 413 digs on the season, while matching her career-best for a single match at 30 digs against Northwest Nazarene.

Tully played on the right side and found a home, landing 197 kills and 2.53 kills per set, before having her season ended early due to injury. The sophomore boasted a 3.63 GPA and majored in business administration at the end of fall 2024.

The four Eagles met the maximum allowable recipients for each program at four.
