Ethan Crabb Chris Knorr Leadership Award

Crabb Corrals Honor at Chris Knorr Invite

The Chris Knorr Leadership award was given to Ethan Crabb on Tuesday, after the Eagles competed in the Chris Knorr Invite.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. --- Cal Lutheran played host to the Chris Knorr Invite on Tuesday morning, as nine teams took to the pool between the men's and women's sides. The Biola women won amongst its field of four programs, while Ethan Crabb provided the highlight for the men, earning the Chris Knorr Leadership Award.

"Ethan was nominated for his unwavering commitment, selflessness, and work ethic he has brought to the team and program," said Head Coach Nate Harding. "It was an honor to nominate Ethan for this award in honor of Chris Knorr."

In the pool, the BU women took care of business with a first place team finish, while the BU men claimed fourth.

Diving opened the day, as Lorelai Carney and Abby DePina scored second and third on the 1M board. Carney collected a score of 232.40 and DePina tallied a total of 186.35.

Caleb Pook took the crown for the men's 1M dive, reaching 239.85 on the scoreboard. Sebastian Burgos grabbed bronze in the event at 186.35.

Biola kicked off the swimming portion of the day with a relay win from Allison Yancey, Meghan Tolman, Emilee Elizondo, and Katie Ottman. The foursome was victorious in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.10 and was followed by Biola's B-team in third place at 1:54.16.

The Eagles also dominated the 200 breaststroke with a pair of event crowns. Gavin Souttere claimed the win for the men at 2:21.61 and Angelina Ahmadi-Kashani won for the women at 2:34.13.

The 200 individual medley saw a clean sweep from the Biola women, who earned all three podium spots. Morgan Kampfer paced the pack for first, touching at 2:14.00. She narrowly edged teammate Coco Friedley, who clocked in a time of 2:14.11. Bronze went to Yancey, completing the podium sweep.

Alejandro Marchesini was the top dog in the 100 backstroke, winning by nearly two seconds against the field with a time of 52.46. Drew Johnston took third on the women's side at 1:06.60.

The 200 freestyle saw many strong finishes from the Eagles, as the team nabbed second through fifth. Sofia Chavez-Varela led the Biola group in second place at 2:00.40 and was followed by Yancey, Ahmadi-Kashani, and Kampfer in third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.

Biola added on additional podium finishes including Jackie Mudd in second in the 50 free, Chloe Colvard in second in the 200 backstroke, Savanna Taylor in third in the 100 butterfly, and Andrew Hanson in second in the 100 butterfly.

BU aquatics will return to the pool on Wednesday, January 10 for a tri-meet at Pomona-Pitzer.
