STOCKTON, Calif. --- Biola women's water polo has made it to the big stage just two years into its existence. The winners of the Western Water Polo Association Championships clinched a spot in the NCAA National Championships and will see their first action on Wednesday, May 10 against Long Island University.

The team's first trip to nationals comes under the leadership of head coach Sarah Orozco. At the helm of the Eagles, Orozco has seen her team jump from 13 to 17 wins over their two seasons as a program.

Three of those wins came at the most crucial time in the WWPA tournament. Over the weekend, Biola was the team to beat and did not meet much resistance. The Eagles grabbed the crown, winning each game by at least four goals.

The automatic bid placed the team in the opening round of the postseason nationals tournament. On May 10, the Eagles will play the Long Island Sharks in a 1:00 pm matchup in Stockton, California. The winner will advance to play the top-seeded Stanford Cardinals, the reigning national champions.
