AUSTIN, Tex.--- Kristian Colaci claimed his second All-American honor for his outstanding performances in the 2022 season.Â
Colaci was previously named an All-American by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and has now been named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
"It's nice to be recognized from an academic point of view," responded Colaci. "As a student-athlete you need to take care of the business on and off of the field, which is not always easy. I'm glad the program had a successful season and I have to thank my teammates that helped me integrate into this program and university in such a short amount of time. I will be always grateful for all these people and the bond we created together."
Colaci is one of 35 Division II players from across the nation and one of three from the PacWest Conference to be honored as an Academic All-American by the CSC. Colaci, a graduate student, was named to the CSC's Second Team with his 4.0 cumulative GPA in business administration.Â
"It comes to no surprise that Kris' discipline and attention to detail to his soccer directly translates to a high level of success in the classroom," stated head coach Joey O'Keefe. "This is the second time in two years that our program has received an Academic All-American award and for me this is the highest possible honor you can earn in the college game. Being a top academic student and an elite soccer player is a special combination. I could not be more proud of Kris."
To be eligible for this prestigious honor, student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve who played in at least 50 percent of their teams games with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average. Athletes must have also been at their institution for at least 12 months to be eligible, unless they are a graduate student.Â
Colaci adds Academic All-American to his growing list of accomplishments that includes D2CCA Third Team All-American, D2CCA First Team All-West Region, PacWest Player of the Year, First Team All-PacWest, and CSC All-District.
