Box Score SANTA CLARA, Calif. --- The Biola Men's Water Polo team dropped a 19-7 decision to Santa Clara University on Friday at the Sullivan Aquatic Center.

With the loss, Biola (1-6, 0-2) is still in search of its first Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) conference win as the Eagles take on Fresno Pacific (1-4, 0-1), who is also in search of its first WWPA win, on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Biola received goals from five different players in the 19-7 loss, while Maxwell Osborn and Nolan Rapp each grabbed a pair of goals. Rapp converted on two of his three shot attempts and also drew a defensive exclusion and Osborn shot .500 from the field while collecting an assist and a steal.

Head Coach Rick Nordell also received goals from Matthew Vinson, John Grasso and  Kenny Wulf.

Nordell's team was firing on all cylinders in the first and fourth quarters, staying within two scores of Santa Clara in each quarter. A pair of six-score quarters on both sides of the half scored 12 goals for the Broncos and put the game just out of reach for Biola.

Biola continued to impress in it's ability to make the pass in and force fouls, as the Eagles drew 12 exclusions, setting a new program best. The Eagles reached double-digits in the category for only the second time this season since Biola recorded 10 exclusions against Westcliff during the second game of the season.

Mitchell Carpenter played the entirety of the game in the Cage for Nordell, recording eight saves on 33 shots from the Broncos. With his eight saves today, Carpenter ranks fourth in the WWPA with 69 saves and third with 9.9 saves per game.

Nolan Rapp has also made his mark on the WWPA leader board as the freshman is third in steals with 14, just one behind a pair of Air Force players tied for first with 15 steals. Rapp leads all players in the WWPA with 2 steals per game across seven games played.

Biola is back in action on Saturday, September 25, as the Eagles head to Fresno Pacific for a matchup that will give one of the teams their first WWPA victory of the 2021 season.
