LA MIRADA, Calif. --- On a sunny Friday afternoon, Biola Women's Tennis bounced back from their loss to No.25 Concordia Irvine. The Eagles picked up the 4-0 victory against Westmont as they wrapped up a stretch of three matches on their home courts.
"Feels good to get a win against Westmont, they always have a tough team," said Head Coach David Goodman. "We have come up short the last few years against them, so it's a confidence booster for our team."
Biola Women's Tennis started their day behind a strong performance from doubles partners Brooke Fager and Lilly McNeill. Fager and McNeill won the back-and-forth match against Westmont's Sidney Lowry and Christine Hemry six games to three.
Biola picked up the doubles No. 3 spot victory by default as Westmont brought just five active players with them.Â
Goodman was particularly impressed with the improvements he saw from his singles. "I thought we played exceptionally well in the singles, and saw some big improvements from the last match."
After securing the doubles victory, McNeill tallied a singles victory to add to her day. Facing off against a familiar opponent in Hemry, McNeill took both sets 6-3 for the Eagles out of the No. 3 spot in Goodman's lineup.
Following the tone set by her teammates, Mary Brascia made quick work of her opponent in the No. 5 spot. Brascia blanked her opponent in set one and only allowed one point in set two to take the match.Â
Today's victory was a great reminder that the Eagles can bounce back from a tough loss and continue to be dominant against their opponents. The wins help Biola to move to 2-1 on the season as they look to continue PacWest play at Point Loma on Saturday. It will be the first match of the year for the Sea Lions, who had a match with Concordia Irvine postponed earlier this week. Follow both matches live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/plnu/.
