Hungry Like a Wulf

Kenny Wulf leads Biola with five goals against McKendree, Eagles fall 10-8

LA VERNE, Calif. --- Biola Water Polo came within two scores in its 10-8 loss to McKendree at the La Verne Aquatics Center in game one of the Gary Troyer Tournament on Friday afternoon.

The duo of Mitchel Carpenter and Kenny Wulf continue to show how hungry they are to help the program get its next win. Wulf, who scored a program high four goals against No.18 Cal Baptist on Thursday, set a new program high with five goals in the Eagles 10-8 loss.

"Kenny has found his mojo offensively," said Head Coach Rick Nordell. Wulf's dominance on offense has started to setup his teammates for opportunities as he and Carpenter continue to lead the way for the Eagles.

Carpenter logged 12 saves for Biola in the cage, for his # straight game with ten-plus saves. The freshman now sits at 106 saves for the season.

Strong defense continues to spark the offense as Nolan Rapp recorded five steals for Biola with Matthew Vinson and Maxwell Osborn each recording a steal.

Wulf's 18 goals throughout the first ten games in water polo's inaugural season lead the team, he also is tied for second on the team in assists with seven.

Wulf scored Biola's first goal of the game in the second quarter as the Bearcats scored four unanswered goals to start the game. Luke Franklin brought the Eagles within two scores as he found the back of the cage with only 45 seconds remaining in the first half for a 4-2 score.

After scoring just one goal in the third quarter courtesy of Wulf, Biola managed to outscore McKendree 5-3 in the final quarter of play. The Eagles received goals from Will Tibbets and Maxwell Osborn while Kulf chipped in with three of his own as Biola battled.

The Eagles will now shift their attention to game two of the Gary Troyer Tournament at 4:30 pm where Biola will face off against Navy at Matt M. Axelrod Pool on the Campus of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Claremont, California.
