Box Score
SURPRISE, Ariz. --- Biola Men's Tennis had one last chance at victory in its 2019 season and it did not let that chance pass it by. The Eagles swept the Holy Names Hawks 4-0 on Saturday in a consolation bracket match.

It is the Eagles' 10th win of the season and second over Holy Names. This time, Biola got it done in more convincing fashion, winning 4-0 rather than 4-3.

It was an excellent finish to the career of Biola's lone senior David Garcia. He partnered with Derek James to win No. 3 doubles 6-3. Then he went on to dominate his singles match in his customary sixth flight. Garcia won in straight sets, 6-0; 6-1. He finished his senior season with a sparkling 11-6 singles record and 12-7 doubles mark.

Biola got off to a strong start by winning the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. It was Erik Martinez and Edwyn Ramos pairing up at the No. 2 spot, winning 6-3. Martinez and Ramos improved to 3-3 together this season.

After that, the Eagles just needed three singles wins to get the job done. James, Garcia and Andres Meneses sped through their matches to lift Biola to its victory. Meneses' match was the first to come off the courts as the freshman matched Garcia's scoreline with a 6-0; 6-1 win.

James turned out to be the clincher with his win at the No. 3 spot. He eased through the first set, dropping just one game. The second set was closer, taking 10 games to lock it down before he claimed the 6-4 win that finished the match. James, who is fresh off earning all-conference honors, finishes his season with a 14-3 overall record in singles.

The Eagles finish the season 10-14 overall and seventh place in the conference. The 10 wins are the most for Biola since the 2016 season. The Eagles won 11 matches that year, part of back-to-back seasons with 10+ wins.

Biola should be expected to be able to hit double-digits again next season with almost its entire roster set to return. Congrats on a great season!
