Sizzling Finish To Regular Season

Biola Women’s Tennis beats Arizona Christian for the first time since 2013 with four straight-set singles wins.

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Women's Tennis ended its regular season on a great note. The Eagles celebrated Tinisee Kandakai before her final match at the Biola Tennis Center and made a little history before the day was done with their first win over the Firestorm since 2013.

The win was Biola ninth of the year and their third-straight at home to conclude the season. The Eagles' 8-3 record at the Biola Tennis Center this season is the best home record for the program as far back as the current record book goes (to 2007).

Alliston Torres and Ines Diaz picked up their eight win as a pair and improved to 7-4 at Bo. 3 doubles with a 6-2 to open the match. But the Eagles actually started the dual match at a 1-0 deficit because Arizona Christian won the matches on courts one and two. But then the tide completely turned in singles.

Both Lauren Lee and Lily Waterhouse earned love-love victories at singles No. 5 and No. 4, respectively to put Biola on top of the Firestorm. The Esther Lee and Allison Torres brought the win home with their own straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 6. E. Lee, Torres and Waterhouse all earn their fifth singles win of the season with the victories while Lauren Lee continues to build upon the best singles season of her collegiate career with a 9-5 record.

There's nothing but optimism for Biola heading into the PacWest tournament giving the Eagles' singles play: all six women won their first set while No. 1 got back into form after injury with her 6-3, 6-1 win. Both Diaz and Kandakai were on their way to wins of their own in their respectively singles matches, but they had to leave their matches unfinished as Biola clinched the win in a speedy one hour and 45 minutes.

The Eagles will head to Arizona next week for the PacWest Championships. More information on their first match will be available later at athletics.biola.edu.
