LA MIRADA, Calif. --- It's finally here. After about two months of practice, Biola Women's Basketball finally gets to tip-off its season on Friday. And after two years of being held out of the PacWest tournament, the Eagles are finally eligible to win a conference tournament championship now that Biola is a full NCAA member.Â
That last point is crucial for Head Coach Alan Nakamura's team since Biola finished in sixth place in the PacWest a year ago and would have made the PacWest tournament had the team been eligible. Biola returns nine women from the 2018-19 team, including three women who started 24 games or more for the Eagles. All three of them need to be key contributors again this year, as Biola will look to All-PacWest swing guard Jazz Benn and capable point guard Tatum Brimley for regular scoring game in and out while Mikayla Greens leads a new core of post players.
Biola was picked seventh in the PacWest Preseason Poll a few weeks ago and will host two games for the sixth-ranked team in the poll, Concordia. Both PacWest programs will face Cal State LA, who defeated both these teams a year ago on the way to a 9-17 record, and Cal State Dominguez Hills, who went 14-15 a year ago but qualified for the CCAA conference tournament.Â
Biola will play Cal State LA on Friday at 3 p.m. and CSUDH on Saturday at 3 p.m. Concordia will play Cal State Dominguez Hills at 1 p.m. on Friday and CSULA at 1 p.m. Saturday

BIOLA vs Cal State LA: Friday Nov. 8 at 3 p.m.\\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
Cal State LA opened up the 2018-19 season with a 60-53 win over Biola. But the Golden Eagles struggled once they got around to conference play and ended up missing the CCAA tournament. Cal State LA comes into this season ranked 10th in the CCAA preseason poll after both of its all-conference players graduated a year ago. Senior Rebecca DiRegolo is CSULA's leader in scoring, rebounding and shooting percentage among returning players and the Golden Eagles will return two other starters along with her.Â
BIOLA vs Cal State Dominguez Hills: Saturday Nov. 9 at 3 p.m.\\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
Cal State Dominguez Hills was ranked sixth of 13 teams in the same CCAA preseason poll and returns two women who were recognized as all-conference players a year ago. The Eagles are 1-5 all-time against the Toros, having lost in the CCAA/PacWest Crossover a year ago and at Chase Gym at the start of the 2016-17 campaign when some of the now-senior Toros were freshmen. Cal State Dominguez Hills now has an upperclassmen-laden roster, with six seniors and six juniors among the 15 women that are on the squad.Â
