BIOLA (1-1) vs. TARLETON STATE (2-0): Thursday Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m. \\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
This will be the first meeting between Tarleton State and Biola, with the TexAnns coming to Southern California for a quick two-game set against Biola and Cal Poly Pomona. Tarleton State started the season 2-0 after going 20-12 last year with an NCAA Regional Tournament berth. But the TexAnns have had some struggles on the road in recent years, posting a winning percentage under .500 on the road in each of the last three seasons. This will also Tarleton State's first trip to California during the five-year tenure of current head coach, Misty Wilson. TexAnns guard Kaylee Allen is coming off a conference Offensive Player of the Week honor after shooting almost 63 percent from the field and averaging 18.5 points per game during Tarleton State's Tip-Off Classic. Allen is joined by three teammates who are also averaging double-digit points through two games.
BIOLA (1-1) vs. LA SIERRA (2-4): Saturday Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. \\ Live Stats \\ Live Video
La Sierra started the season with two wins in its first three contests but has now lost all four games its played against Biola's former conference peers in the GSAC. La Sierra has three women scoring over 10 points per game but has had trouble neutralizing opposing offenses of late. The Golden Eagles have allowed at least 94 points in each of the last two contests and are surrendering over 80 points on average through six games. Biola defeated the Golden Eagles 107-52 in the teams' last meeting on Nov. 5, 2016 in Chase Gym and has won 10 of the 11 all-time matchups. One of the keys for Head Coach Alan Nakamura's group to make it 11-of-12 will be limiting La Sierra's scoring around the key. La Sierra attempts 75 percent of its shots from inside the three-point arc and is shooting just 26 percent as a team from three.
ABOUT LAST WEEK:
The Eagles are still in the early portion of the schedule that makes it too early to tell how the 2018-19 season will play out. The Eagles had several individuals go on scoring tears over its first two games. Danita Estorga shot well from deep in the first half of Biola's loss to Cal State LA and finished the game with 15 points while Kayla Macedo was perfect from the field and went 6-of-7 from the line in the second half to chip in 13. Mikayla Greens picked up the baton in the next game with a career high 24 points and 12 rebounds against Cal State Dominguez Hills to highlight a close game for Biola. The Eagles will just need to do a better job of preventing opposing offenses from going on long runs that change the landscape of the game. Cal State Dominguez Hills went on a 22-to-4 run in the third quarter last Saturday to erase a nine-point deficit and build and surmount a 56-47 lead.
