In one of the most successful opening weeks in the recent history of Biola University Athletics, Daniel Chew’s two-goal performance against Northwest stood out.
 
The 5’ 11” forward from Lake Forest, Calif. led the men’s soccer team in goals last season, when he and teammates Carlos Ballesteros and Sava Pantic each scored eight.
 
His two goals on Wednesday night put him just six away from equalizing that number in his senior season.
 
It was a defensive battle during the early stages, as neither team could find the net through the first 71 minutes. However, in the 72^nd minute Chew and Pantic were able to break the defensive back line and form a breakaway against goalkeeper Joe Galbraith.
 
Chew decided to go for the shot off the breakaway chance and he put Biola up 1-0. Just seven minutes later Chew was able to add to his tally by knocking one in off the keeper from about five yards out.
 
BU went on to win the match 2-1, propelled by Chew’s offensive prowess. His two goals came on four shots, three on goal, in 81 minutes on the pitch.
 
He will look to keep the hot foot going on Tuesday night when the Eagles host Azusa Pacific at 7 p.m.
