    Asst. Softball Coach
Janie Takeda joined Head Coach Lorie Coleman's staff at the start of the 2015-16 school year for her first season as an assistant coach for Biola Softball.

She comes to the Eagles' staff following a remarkable playing career at the University of Oregon from 2011-2015. During her time as a Duck Takeda earned NCAA Division I All-American status three times, NCAA All-Region recognition three times and All-Pac-12 three times.

She led her team to three Pac-12 championships and earned NCAA Softball World Series berths during three of her seasons. She was also a three-time scholar-athlete during her playing career.

Takeda graduated with her bachelor's degree in journalism and communications in spring 2015. After her playing career at Oregon joined Team USA and currently plays for the national team.

When not coaching or playing she enjoys photography, calligraphy, going to Disneyland and being outside.

Time on the diamond runs in the Takeda family as Janie's sister, Michelle, played at Maryland and Southern Mississippi. Her father, George, also played semi-professional baseball.

Takeda joined the Biola coaching staff because she saw it as a way to combine her love for softball with ministry. Her areas of focus will be with the lefty hitters/slap hitters, base running and working with the outfielders.

She resides in Placentia, Calif.
