Biola Shines with Records and Top Finishes in Fullerton

School records and Provisional marks highlight a busy day at the Ben Brown Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. --- The Biola track and field team returned to action Friday at the Ben Brown Invitational. Two school records were broken and NCAA provisional marks highlighted a strong showing for Biola.

The Eagles saw success in the hurdles, highlighted by Joshua Widdows, who captured first place in the men's 400-meter hurdles, breaking his own school record with a time of 51.14. Brayden Watson also delivered a strong performance, placing fourth in 54.22, while Stuart Lau finished 13th in 58.20.

Eboselulu Omofoma broke her own school record, placing second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.20 after also finishing fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.00). Hannah Hanson added a fifth-place finish in the women's 400-meter hurdles (1:02.94) and placed 13th in the 100-meter hurdles (14.43).

Robby Porter led the field events, delivering one of the Eagles' best performances of the day, finishing third in the men's high jump with a clearance of 2.06 meters. On the women's side, Carlota Romay Rega earned a second-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.61 meters, while Reese Eckard also cleared 1.61 meters to place fifth. 

Biola also found success in the women's discus throw, led by Hope Willis, who placed fourth with a throw of 48.95 meters, breaking a school record and setting a new personal best. Norah DeYoung finished 16th (40.85m) while Leah Gilmore placed 25th (37.70m).

In the throwing events on the men's side, Kaiden Gonzales placed 16th in the discus (41.69m) and 23rd in the shot put (13.60m). Logan Thompson added a 30th-place finish in the discus with a mark of 37.81 meters, while Gabriel De Silva competed in the shot put, throwing for 8.28m

Biola's sprint groups also competed throughout the day. Quinn Shavey led the Eagles in the men's 400 meters, placing seventh in 48.22, while Jack Saptya finished 14th in 48.99. Richie Nawa'akoa recorded a personal-best time of 49.95, placing 22nd. On the women's side, Amelia Trautman finished 13th in the 400 meters with a time of 56.78

The Eagles had a standout showing in the women's 5000 meters, where Bethany Mapes placed second (16:49.24) and Maddie Ebright finished third (16:53.83). Hailey Wurzbach added another strong result, placing fourth in 17:02.24.

In the men's 5000 meters, Melt von Molendorff, who finished sixth in 14:30.74, while Grant Miller placed 13th in 14:36.98.

The Eagles will compete next week at the UCR Spring Track Classic in Riverside on March 21st.
