Record-Breaking Throw Highlights Day One in Fullerton

Colby Shamblin sets new Biola javelin mark as Eagles compete at Ben Brown Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. --- The Biola track and field team competed in multiple field events at the Ben Brown Invitational on Thursday. 

Colby Shamblin highlighted the first day in Fullerton, breaking a school record in the men's javelin with a distance of 58.08 meters. Elias Voris finished in 11th place with a distance of 47.79 meters. 

In the hammer throw, Kaiden Gonzales and Logan Thompson represented Biola. Gonzales finished in 18th with a distance of 44.23 meters while Thompson placed 24th with a mark of 41.42 meters.

Marco Smith and Robby Porter participated in the men's long jump finishing 18th and 23rd respectively. 

Biola saw strong results in the men's pole vault as well. Dakotah Phillips led the group with a fourth-place finish, clearing 4.15m, while Aidan Erickson followed closely in fifth place with a clearance of 4.00m.

On the women's side, the hammer throw group posted multiple solid performances. Hope Willis led Biola with a ninth-place finish and a throw of 47.22m, followed by Faith Winningham in 11th place with a mark of 46.35m. Leah Gilmore placed 21st with a throw of 42.41m, while Norah DeYoung finished 30th at 36.54m.

Carlota Romay Rega competed in the women's javelin and placed 12th with a throw of 26.15m.

In the women's pole vault, Nina Navarrette placed seventh, clearing 3.30m, while Keeley Chard finished 10th with a clearance of 3.15m.

Eboselulu Omofoma delivered another strong performance in the women's long jump, finishing fifth with a leap of 5.35m.

The Eagles will be back tomorrow for more track and field beginning at 10 a.m.
