Record-Breaking Day Powers Eagles at Rossi Relays

Biola tallies seven rogram marks, four event wins and women’s team meet title.

CLAREMONT, Calif.---The Biola track and field teams showcased their depth and talent at the Rossi Relays, as they set seven program records and earned nine podium spots. Biola's women captured the Rossi Relays team title with 76.50 points, while the men placed seventh out of 19 teams.

Melt von Molendorff (3000m, 8:18.41), Joshua Widdows (110H, 14.12) and Bethany Mapes (3000m, 9:46.99) reset their own program records. Hope Willis also delivered a record-breaking performance in the hammer throw. She surpassed the previous school record of 46.17 meters, set in 2022, with a throw of 49.36 meters.

The Eagles' next three school records came in relay events, with Hannah Hanson and Amelia Trautman contributing to two of those historic performances. Biola's women made history in the 4x400 relay, as Ariana Quintana, Hanson, Eboselulu Omofoma and Trautman set the program record with a time of 3:49.22.

The Eagles continued their record-breaking day in the 800 sprint medley relay, establishing new program marks on both the men's and women's sides. Hanson, Trautman, Caden Hunter and Audrey Mousa clocked a record time of 1:44.95 for the women, while Tyler Poltl, Donovan Tommy, Matthew Kaloustian and Quinn Shavey combined to set the new standard for the men (1:29.48).

Biola recorded four first-place finishes at the meet. Autumn Murray claimed the women's long jump title with a mark of 5.72 meters, while Widdows took first in the 110-meter hurdles. The Eagles also secured victories in both the women's and men's 800 sprint medley relays with their A teams.

Willis placed second in the women's hammer throw, Eboselulu Omofoma earned second in the women's 100-meter hurdles (14.23), and Biola's A team finished runner-up in the women's 4x400 relay.

Brayden Watson and Bethany Mapes each earned third-place finishes. Watson placed third in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.75, while Mapes secured third in the 3k.


The Eagles had the largest representation in both the men's and women's 3,000-meter races. On the men's side, five Biola runners finished in the top half of a 131-athlete field, led by Melt von Molendorff in ninth place. Grant Miller placed 12th (8:24.23), followed by Marcin Stanglewicz in 23rd (8:42.36), Andrew Bel in 27th (8:46.30) and Aiden Burr in 48th (8:54.54).

Biola's women were equally strong, placing six runners in the top half of the field, including four in the top 10. Mapes led the way with a third-place finish, followed closely by Hailey Wurzbach in fourth (9:51.74). Madison Ebright placed ninth (10:11.26) and Elizabeth Kurtz finished 10th (10:13.13). Jaina Kang added a 14th-place finish (10:16.94), while Claire Lesiw came in 15th (10:17.94).

Next up for the track and field teams is the Ben Brown Invitational on Thursday, Mar. 12.
