January 07, 2026

LA MIRADA --- The Biola Swim and Dive team opened the new year at home in Lansing Pool.

SWIM
Biola hosted three total teams, including Concordia University Irvine, The Masters University, and Westmont College. The men competed in a dual meet against The Master's University, while the women competed in a quad meet against CUI, TMU, and WC.

On the women's side, Biola's A teams won both relays, taking first in the 200 Medley Relay (1:40.81) and the 200 Free Relay (1:50.34). Individually, the Eagles recorded multiple top-three finishes. Chloe Colvard showcased her versatility with a second-place finish in the 100 back (1:02.07) and third in the 1000 free (11:28.46). Allison Yancey and Morgan Carles earned wins in the 100 fly and 100 back, respectively. Angie Ahmadi-Kashani, Malia Ciolli, Phoebe Munholland, and Emilee Elizondo added second-place finishes across five events, while Rachel Munch, Lydia Hawthorne, and Colette Friedley contributed four third-place finishes.

"Today was a really strong start to our winter training period. The women competed with great energy and toughness after being back in training for less than a week," stated head coach Nate Harding.

On the men's side, Biola swept the relay events. The men's squad controlled the freestyle events throughout the meet. Benjamin Smith claimed first in the 50 freestyle (21.86), while Koen Vos won the 100 freestyle (47.92). Noah Hall added a victory in the 500 freestyle with a personal best (4:19.99). Anthony Ramirez led a one-two finish for Biola in the 1000 freestyle, winning the event in 10:20.25, just ahead of Jonathan De Dios. In the sprints, Nathan Griffin captured first in the 100 butterfly (53.95), and Alejandro Marchesini won the 100 backstroke (52.27).

"The men delivered a quality win as well, which speaks to the work they have put in so far. This meet sets a great tone as we head into our training trip and continue building toward conference."

DIVING
Seven Eagles represented Biola on the 1 and 3 meter boards. Caleb Pook and Zac Siewert were the only men to compete for BU, while Peyton Nelson, Lauren Smith, Eliana Ko, Sarah Squyres, and Emily Tuffnell competed on the women's side.

"I am so proud of the diving gang. They have been working hard and it paid off," said coach Elizabeth Mackay. "We are looking forward to PCSC Conference and going into it with confidence."

Nelson captured first on both the 1-meter (476.48) and 3-meter (421.65) boards. Lauren Smith and Eliana Ko rounded out the top three with 452.85 and 441.00 points, respectively.

Four divers logged national qualifying scores on the 11 dive list, including Pook on the 3-meter, and Nelson, Ko, and Smith on the 1-meter.

The Eagles will return to competition on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. in Aliso Viejo.
