CLAREMONT, Calif. — Biola Swim & Dive turned in a deep, balanced performance Friday afternoon in a tri-meet against Pomona-Pitzer and Concordia, collecting multiple event wins, podium finishes, and relay highlights.
The day opened with a big statement from Biola's divers.
Peyton Nelson captured first place in the women's 1-meter diving with a score of 278.25, while
Caleb Pook followed with a second-place finish on the men's side (330.45). Pook added another podium performance by taking third in 3-meter diving (288.60), reinforcing Biola's strength on the boards.
In the distance events,
Emily Sheldon controlled the women's 1,000-freestyle, winning in 10:57.55, with teammate
Tessa Halleen close behind in second. The men stood tall in the 500-freestyle, where
Josh Peace powered to victory in 4:38.50, joined on the podium by
Noah Hall (second) and
Samuel Slezak (third) for a Biola sweep of the top three spots.
Allison Yancey was one of the meet's most consistent performers for the Eagles, winning the 100-backstroke and finishing second in the 200-IM, while contributing in a big way on the relays.
Chloe Colvard also doubled up with strong efforts, placing third in the 200-butterfly and second in the 200-backstroke, while
Angelina Ahmadi-Kashani highlighted Biola's middle-distance group with a third-place finish in the 500-freestyle and the team's top showing in the 200-freestyle.
On the men's side,
Alejandro Marchesini delivered one of the day's signature swims by winning the 200-freestyle (1:43.29), then returned later to finish fourth in the 100-freestyle.
Koen Vos matched that versatility with a third-place finish in the 200-freestyle and second in the 100-freestyle, while
Nathan Griffin added a win in the 100-backstroke (:51.96).
Biola's relay squads were equally competitive. The women's "A" team finished second in both the 200-medley relay and 200-freestyle relay, with the "B" squad adding a third-place result in the freestyle relay. The men posted runner-up honors in the 200-freestyle relay and third in the 200-medley relay, continuing the Eagles' momentum in team events.
Altogether, Biola combined event wins, relay depth, and standout diving performances to round out one of its most complete meets of the season. The hosts Pomona-Pitzer won the meet. The Sagehens beat Biola's women 176-117, while their men won 188-97.
