Biola at Open Water National Championships

Freshmen Lead Biola at Open Water National Championship

Seven Biola swimmers competed at the Open Water Championship, freshmen Anthony Ramirez and Julia Hill led their teams in the 5K.

SARASOTA, Fla.---The Biola swim team saw seven of its swimmers compete at the CSCAA Open Water Championship at Nathan Benderson Park. 

Anthony Ramirez led BU's men in the open water 5K and set a program record. The Freshman placed 33rd of 89 swimmers with his record-breaking time of 56:10.1.

BU's men had two more swimmers compete, Noah Hall and Jonathan De Dios. Hall finished 36th with a time of 56:10.1 and De Dios placed 62nd with a time of 59:28.3.

Freshman Julia Hill led Biola's women at the national championship, finishing 89th out of 119 swimmers with a time of 1:04:40. Biola's next-best finisher was another freshman, Addison McCullough who placed 101st with a time of 1:05:23.8. Behind her was Coco Friedley (106th, 1:05:33) and Rachel Munch (109th, 1:05:44.7).

Next up for the Biola swim and dive teams is the Westmont & The Master's Dual Meet on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Lansing Pool.
