INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--- Biola University Athletics received top honors as one of 43 Division II institutions to receive the NCAA's Presidents' Award.
"We are honored to receive the NCAA President's Award for the academic excellence of our student-athletes," stated Senior Director of Athletics
Dr. Bethany Miller. "Our aim is to see their holistic development at Biola, pursuing Christ and preparing for their careers while competing in NCAA athletics. We have incredible faculty at Biola who invest both into the minds and the hearts of our students. This award demonstrates the academic partnership we have as student-athletes train with dedication both in and out of the classroom."
Biola was one of four PacWest Conference institutions to receive the President's Award with an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 92 percent. Dominican, Point Loma, and Westmont also earned the award.
This is the 15th year that the award has been given and Biola's seventh time receiving as a member of DII. To be considered for the Presidents' Award the university must have had an Academic Success Rate (ASR) of at least 90 percent. The ASR is the percentage of student-athletes who graduated within a six-year window (2015-18) of their first-time enrollment.
Emmanuel (Georgia) had the highest ASR in DII of 100%. They were followed by Hillsdale with an ASR of 99%. Bentley and Rollins each earned an ASR of 98%, and Augustana (South Dakota) rounded out the top five with an ASR of 96%.Â
