MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — The Eagles continued their push through the Collegiate Winter Invite on Saturday at ELAC with more standout swims and consistent point earning. Both teams remain inside the top-5 following the second full day of events with the women's team seeing a barrage of top-10 individual efforts.

The top early swim was a fourth-place effort from Allison Yancey, Malia Ciolli, Emilee Elizondo and Phoebe Munholland in the 200-medley relay. That group went 1:45.36 to narrowly out-touch their rivals from Simon Fraser.

The top individual swims both came in the 100-backstroke.

On the men's side it came from senior Nathan Griffin. Griffin came near to his own school record with his finals swim in the 100-backstoke and won the event outright. Griffin turned in a :48.43 to beat the second place swimmer from Simon Fraser who went :48.95. It was a nice answer for Griffin, who finished third behind two SFU swimmers at the dual meet earlier this year. Alejandro Marchesini gave Biola two top-3 swimmers in the backstroke as he placed third with a :50.33.

For the women, no surprise but Allison Yancey came up big in the bright lights to win the women's 100-backstroke by seven-tenths. Yancey managed a 56-flat to come within 11-hundredths of her own school record.

Coco Friedley flew for Biola in the 400-IM. She set her own personal best by a wide margin with a 4:29.77 to finish sixth. Freshman Addison McCullough wasn't too far behind Friedley in terms of placement. She joined her in the top-10 with a 4:35.87 to place eighth.

On the men's side, freshman Anthony Ramirez dropped six seconds from his season-best in the 400-IM to place fifth and lead the way for the men. He touched the wall in 4:06.77.

After making a splash with the relay team earlier in the day, Elizondo added a strong finish of her own in the 100-butterfly. The junior went :56.70 to place fifth and beat the next swimmer by nearly a full second.

Another event that saw multiple Eagles land in the top-10 was the 200-freestyle where Morgan Carles (1:54.74) and Rachel Munch (1:54.85) went back-to-back in seventh and eighth.

The diving portion of the meet finished up on Saturday. Peyton Nelson was Biola's top performer on the three-meter board for the women, placing sixth with a score of 177.20. Caleb Pook led the men with a fourth-place finish and score of 242.50.

The winter invite comes to a close on Sunday at East LA College. On tap for the event list are the following:
100-IM
200-Backstroke
100-Freestyle
200-Breaststroke
200-Butterfly
1,650-Freestyle
