Double The Delight

Biola sweeps the double dual meet against Azusa Pacific and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

November 01, 2025

AZUSA, Calif.
— Biola Swim & Dive turned in an impressive day in the pool on Saturday as the Eagles faced Azusa Pacific and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a double-dual meet hosted by APU.

The women's team came away with two dual-meet victories — 151-90 over APU and 143-100 over CMS. The men's squad competed unscored as it was the only men's program at the meet.

Biola's women opened strong and never looked back. The quartet of Morgan Carles, Malia Ciolli, Allison Yancey and Phoebe Munholland won the 400-yard medley relay in 3:52.64, setting the tone for the meet. Carles went on to add an individual victory in the 200-backstroke (2:03.28), while Ciolli delivered a win in the 200-breaststroke (2:21.53) and added valuable points in the IM.

Freshman Addison McCullough impressed in her first collegiate 500-freestyle, finishing second overall in 5:12.24. It was a banner day for McCullough, who added an event win in the challenging 400-IM (4:33.41).

Rachel Munch and Chloe Colvard chipped in key top-three finishes to help Biola outscore both opponents in nearly every freestyle event.

Kylie Montiel (2:11.20), Lydia Hawthorne (2:12.00) and Elizabeth Williams (2:12.80) gave the Eagles a 2-4-5 finish in the 200-butterfly.

The Eagles sealed their sweep of both duals with another relay victory—Yancey, Montiel, Swanson, and Munholland claimed the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:37.43)—to close the meet on a high note.

With no men's opponents in the field, Biola's men's swimmers turned the meet into an intrasquad showcase. Nathan Griffin clocked 1:50.15 in the 200-backstroke, a time near his own school-record pace, while Koen Vos sprinted to a 46.56 in the 100-freestyle and helped the A-relay team to a 1:25.51 finish in the 200-free relay.

Josh Peace and Noah Hall battled to the wall in the 1,000-freestyle, both touching in 9:43, separated by less than three-tenths of a second. Jack Snyder also stood out with a 2:15.16 in the 200-breaststroke, edging teammate Zach Montiel (2:16.08) in a tight finish.

Other multi-event winners included Alejandro Marchesini, who led off both the 400-medley (3:28.78) and 200-free relay victories, and Samuel Slezak, who took the 500-freestyle in 4:45.27 and anchored relays throughout the meet.

The highlight of the diving portion of the meet was Zac Siewert making his season debut on both boards. He and Caleb Pook were the only two men's divers. Siewert's top effort came in the three-meter board where he scored a 116.05. Pook's top score on the day was in one-meter where he hit 297.35. To highlight women's diving, Lauren Smith finished third in the three-meter and newcomer Eliana Ko got her first taste of competition in 2025. Ko recorded solid performances in both boards to finish middle of the pack.

This weekend served as the final tune-up before the Eagles' most important regular-season test: the Collegiate Winter Invite, where Biola will aim to post NCAA Division II qualifying times and chase new school records before the championship stretch begins.
