Five Softballers Showcased

The Biola softball team had five athletes showcased on the 2024 All-PacWest teams.

IRVINE, Calif.---The Biola softball team had five athletes showcased on the 2024 All-PacWest teams.

Alexa Medley led the five as a First Team All-PacWest selection. The Freshman was the Eagles' starting second baseman who played 42 of BU's 44 total games at second base. Medley led Biola's offense with a .373 batting average and 50 hits. She also had two doubles, one triple and had eight RBIs.

Medley showed speed on the bases, leading the Eagles by scoring 28 times and with eight stolen bases.

Raylene Roybal earned duo honors as a Second Team All-PacWest Designated Player and Third Team All-PacWest Pitcher. This is the second year in a row where she received all-conference honors for two positions.

Roybal played in every game but one (43) and had 42 starts. The redshirt-Senior started 20 games in the circle, 14 as the designated player and nine as an outfielder.

Roybal batted .304 with 25 hits, three doubles, one triple and led Biola with six homers. She also led her team with 31 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .528.

Roybal also was Biola's ace leading the Eagles' pitching staff with a 2.29 ERA, 11-8 W-L record, 11 complete games, four shutouts, 125.1 total innings pitched ands 85 strikeouts. Roybal threw a season-high of 10 strikeouts twice this season, once against Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific.

Roybal's opponents only averaged .249 against her this season.

Abie Nowak, Brie Nowak and Kaitlyn Hawkins were BU's final selections who were all named to the PacWest's Third Team.

Abie received all-conference honors for the third time in her career. Abie was Biola's starting first baseman who played and started all 44 games at first base. Abie batted .288 this season with 38 hits, 10 doubles and three triples. She also had 18 RBIs which is second-best on the Eagles.

Abie leads the Eagles with her involvement in 11 double plays and 265 putouts from 285 chances. She also had a .972 fielding percentage.

Brie earned third team all-conference honors as a catcher. Brie played 22 games as the Eagles' catcher where she had a perfect fielding percentage and caught four runners stealing.

Brie batted .305 with 25 hits, three doubles and one home run. Additionally, Brie slugged .378 and batted in 11 RBIs.

Kaitlyn Hawkins was Biola's last selection. The Senior was named as an All-PacWest Third baseman for the second time in her career.


Hawkins played and started every game at third base, totaling a .945 fielding percentage. She also had 50 putouts, 71 assists and was a part of eight double plays.

Hawkins batted .198 with 22 hits and four doubles. She also contributed 11 RBIs.
