AZUSA, Calif. --- The eye is on the prize for Biola, as the NCAA National Championships approach on May 25. On Friday and Saturday, the Eagles took to the track with one final opportunity to improve their numbers before the postseason meet.

The hammer throw took place at the Portland Distance Carnival, as Jada Pierce stepped in for BU. The BU record holder was consistent on Friday and came through with a throw of 46.17m on her fourth attempt.

Biola also sent athletes to the APU Last Chance meet. The opening night featured a season-best performance from Brady DeHaven. The senior nabbed 12th in the 10000 run with a time of 31:12.15.

Lynette Ruiz competed in the 10000 run as well, crossing the finish line in second place. A big gap between her and the other runners made for unfortunate pacing but the freshman still came through at 35:25.37, which was seven seconds off her personal-best time.

Rebeka Preston ran the gambit at APU Last Chance, competing in five total events. Four heptathlon events made for a busy Friday, including a season-best showing in the 100 hurdles. Preston finished in third with a time of 14.96. After four events, Preston sat at 2840 points and then pulled out of the remaining three events scheduled for Saturday, Instead, Preston shifted her focus to the triple jump and turned in a mark of 11.41m for seventh place.

The final field event featured Hanna Bevan in the high jump. The impressive leaper cleared her second attempt at 1.62m and finished in ninth in the event.

BU will back on the track in Allendale, Michigan from May 25-27 for the NCAA DII National Championships.
