Day two commenced on Friday with two more events for the Biola long distance group.

SAN FRANCISCO --- The BU Track and Field squad continued action at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Friday with the 1500 and 5000 races. A total of 14 BU athletes took to the San Francisco State Track between the two events on Friday morning.


Five Eagles competed in the 1500 on both the men's and women's sides. Charles Bailey posted his first sub 4-minute time with a 22nd place finish on Friday. The 3:59.24 time was good for second in his section and represented his best as an Eagle.

Aidan Tomasini came in next in section 4 in 27th place overall. The freshman also logged a personal-best time of 4:00.23 in the event. Aidan Arredondo came next in 33rd and was followed by Will Durrance in 38th.

More BU runners reached collegiate-bests, as the women took to the track in the 1500 race, including Grace Catena. The senior took 23rd place with a mark of 4:42.25, which was good for fourth in section 4. Kenzie Elliott and Jordan Gossett each landed personal-bests as well, finishing at 4:50.794 and 4:50.795, respectively.

Hannah Champness competed in section 3 and posted a 26th overall finish on Friday. The senior recorded a time of 4:43.95 in the event.

Four athletes tackled the 5000 run for the Eagles squad on Friday. Britta Holmberg offered the best finish of the group, grabbing 37th with a personal-best time of 17:47.24. Keira Coye nabbed 51st overall and 15th in section 3 with a mark of 18:09.29 for her best time as an Eagle. Kaela Berretta came in at 18:36.96 for 70th. Jacob Shirota notched a personal-best time on the men's side to finish fifth in section 6 at 15:23.16.

The final day at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic will feature a full slate of events beginning at 9:30 am on Saturday.
