Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Brandon Taylor, Assistant Sports Information Director

Win Streak Ends on Monday

Biola Women’s Tennis couldn’t carry its four match win streak into March, falling 6-1 at Point Loma.

SAN DIEGO --- Biola Women's Tennis was unable to push its win streak to five when it faced Point Loma in San Diego on Saturday. Freshmen Colbeyshae Emery and Brooke Fager had the most success for Head Coach David Goodman's group and helped push the match to its two hour and 30 minute duration.

But Point Loma controlled the doubles point and earned straight-set victories on court three through six to hand Biola its first loss in two weeks.

After winning doubles each of the past three contests, the Eagles faltered while playing for the opening point and weren't able to take any of the decisions.

Emery was able to gut out her opening set with a tiebreaker win and Ines Diaz and Lauren Lee each had a modicum of success by holding serve three times during their first sets. But Point Loma had clinched by the time that Brooke Fager had evened her match and Emery had cruised through her second set to win 7-6, 6-0.

The win continues the impressive, and record-setting run for Emery at the No. 1 position. Her eight wins in a row at the top singles flight is the longest win streak any Biola Women's Tennis player has recorded since 2004.

With the rest of the matches finished, Fager went to a superbreaker after winning her second set 6-4. But Fager was denied her fourth-straight singles win after Angelique Friedrich won bt a 10-6 score.

The Eagles will stay in San Diego to play again on Tuesday. They have an afternoon match scheduled against UC San Diego, which will play Biola for the first time in program history.
