Eagles Wrap-Up In Waikoloa

Biola Men’s Golf finished play at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate in Hawaii on Wednesday with another consistent round.

October 31, 2018

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii --- Head Coach Cory Page's team completed its time in the three-day Dennis Rose Intercollegiate on Wednesday with one final round and played better than four other PacWest teams on the day with a team score of 309.

The Eagles three-day total of 919 landed them in 11th place out of 15 teams while host Hawaii Hilo won the tournament by shooting seven-under as a team. Austin Bishop and Kyle McAbee tied for Biola's best third-round score with a 75 and placed within the top-40 of the 80-player field. Bishop's 224 tournament total clipped McAbee's 225 by one stroke for the best mark on the team.

Bishop had a better time on the front nine Wednesday, getting a birdie on five and completing the other eight holes with a par. McAbee had a slight improvement on the back nine, where the Eagles started play. But the improvement was slight because he played through the front nine in 38 strokes for +2 after starting the round +1 on holes 11-18. McAbee concluded the morning with a par on hole 10 as every other Eagles in Page's top-five did.

Junior Kaden Page was just behind Bishop and McAbee on Wednesday after playing his best round of the tournament with a 76. Page carded a better score in arch successive round after turning in a 79 on Monday and mixed in seven-straight holes where he played par or better into Wednesday's performance. Page has now completed seven-straight rounds with sub-80 scores dating back to last year's PacWest Championships in Arizona.

Lastly, Karson Dreher and Scott Hatfield each moved up a spot on the leaderboard on Wednesday while participating in the tournament as individual players. Dreher played his best golf of the tournament in round three, taking three strokes off his second-round score with an 87 Wednesday. Hatfield's best day was Tuesday, when he birdied hole four and finished with an 84.

The Eagles will take about a week to recoup and prepare themselves for a dual match with the University of La Verne scheduled for Nov. 7.
