LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola surrendered a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes, falling 3-1 to Fresno Pacific University in a GSAC match on Tuesday night on Al Barbour Field.

The Eagles, who moved back into the Top 25 at No. 21 in the latest NAIA poll released earlier in the day, drop to 7-3-2 and to 2-2-0 in GSAC play. The Sunbirds improve to 8-3-0 on the season and remain atop the conference standings with a 4-0-0 record.

The match was an exciting one with both teams pressing forward and creating scoring chances. However, it was just the second time this season Biola was outshot with Fresno holding a 14-9 edge.

The Sunbirds got on the board first with a goal in the 17th minute as Rodrigo Vianna put in a rebound off a blocked shot to make it an early 1-0 lead for the visitors.

Biola turned up the pressure with 10 minutes left in the half. The Eagles would score their first goal in the 37th minute as Dylan Wingrove sent a nice pass over to Marco Ruvalcaba who turned, spun and shot it into the goal from about 19 yards out to make it 1-0.

Just a few minutes later, it looked like the Eagles had the go-ahead goal. Cody Shelton's throw-in landed right at the feet of Daniel Chew who had his shot blocked and bounce right to Ruvalcaba, who tapped it into the empty net. However, he was called offside despite what looked to be a pair of Sunbird players guarding the posts.

Both teams continued to press the rest of the match with Fresno scoring the go-ahead goal late in the contest. With just under 14 minutes left, Vianna struck again. Michael Kuehter dribbled down the byline and made a quick pass into the box where Vianna slid and tapped it into the goal.

The Sunbirds would add an insurance goal just two minutes later as Fabricio Nazare received a pass and sliced through the defense and beat the keeper with a quick one-on-one move to make it 3-1.

Biola looks to get back on the winning side on Saturday, hosting another huge GSAC match. The Eagles face off against arch-rival and No. 15-ranked Azusa Pacific University at 1:00 p.m. The match is the focal point of Biola Weekend, the annual parents and alumni weekend presented by Biola University.
