SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- Junior Kennedy Chongo scored on a first-half penalty kick and sophomore Marco Ruvalcaba netted a big second-half insurance goal as Biola rebounded from its first loss of the season with a 2-0 win over Westmont in a GSAC match on Tuesday.

The Eagles improve to 8-1-0 on the season and stay perfect in conference play at 3-0-0. The Warriors fall to 4-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the GSAC. The victory was the third in four matches between the two schools played in Santa Barbara after Westmont owned the all-time series prior to 2003.

Chongo got the Eagles on the board in the first half, converting on a penalty kick in the 29th minute of the contest. The goal was the fifth of the season for Chongo, but just the first since scoring against Whittier College on Sept. 7.

After fighting off a number of chances by the Warriors, Biola got a big goal to seal the deal late in the contest as Ruvalcaba scored his sixth of the season on a long shot from the left side in the 85th minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Aaron Fenlason recorded his eighth shutout of the season, making five saves and facing 14 shots. He improves to 8-1-0 on the season.

Biola's victory came on the heels of its first loss of the year, a tough 3-2 overtime defeat by Cal State San Marcos on Friday. It was the first first time the Eagles had allowed a goal in 2009.

The win sets up a huge GSAC battle on Saturday between Biola and No. 2 Azusa Pacific University. Both teams enter the match with a perfect record in conference play as the Cougars smacked around No. 13 Concordia University 5-2 on Tuesday in Azusa to improve to 4-0 and 11-0 overall. Kick-off for the match is set at Noon.
